Frequently, nursing homes require this training for NA’s working on the evening or night shifts. Those who complete the course and testing can work for many agencies providing they are 18 years of age or older and maintain or upgrade skills through completing continuing education hours.

Workers in this field must interact with people in pain or under stress, must remain focused, and administer medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse or doctor.

State law requires that the person working as an unlicensed medication aide must have completed a Nursing Assistant training approved by the State and the training for TMA.
