Greetings Students and Families of Takoda Prep,
This message is to alert you that over the weekend, members of the Takoda Prep team tested positive for COVID-19, with others experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
Acting in accordance with AIOIC’s COVID Mitigation Protocols, and acting out of an abundance of caution, we are suspending all onsite, in-person classes at Takoda Prep for the duration of the forthcoming school week. The closure begins on Monday, January 30, and runs through Friday, February 3, with the intention of returning to in-person learning on Monday, February 6. We are treating this temporary closure as though it is an inclement weather event, whereby Takoda Prep students are encouraged to study from home. The temporary closure will also allow the Takoda Prep team to fully recover and return to work with successful negative COVID tests, and provides time for AIOIC’s facilities team to complete a deep cleaning and disinfection of the school.
We encourage all students who were in attendance the week of January 23, to monitor for symptoms and get tested themselves for COVID-19 as a precautionary measure to ensure their health, and the health of their classmates. If a student does test positive, they are to remain home until they have successfully tested negative and are not exhibiting any COVID symptoms. Please refer to the CDC’s guidelines for COVID exposure.
American Indian OIC and the Takoda Prep team offers our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this situation may create for your student or your families and we are grateful for your understanding and patience as we move through this current situation in a way that ensures the health and well-being of everyone involved.
Wopila Tanka and Chi Miigwetch!
