After a years long battle with incarceration and addiction, Brigette reached a turning point during her final encounter with the criminal justice system. She was determined to change her life, and she did. She served her last sentence in a county jail where she took advantage of every opportunity available- joining a work crew, enrolling in training, and becoming the first person in her facility to obtain a Microsoft Office certification. This milestone not only marked a shift in her own mind but also inspired others around her who she encouraged to join in committing to a better future.
Brigette’s commitment continued when she connected with American Indian OIC’s reentry team who guided her through her release from jail and supported her upon her return to our community. With the help of our counselors, Brigette earned industry recognized credentials, regained her driver’s license, and secured a full-time job where earns meaningful pay and receives full benefits.
Brigette’s personal life has also flourished—she has rebuilt family relationships, maintained sobriety, moved into her own apartment, and even got married. She has become more active in her church and community, volunteering and encouraging others to pursue similar opportunities.
Looking ahead, Brigette plans to grow within her company and eventually start her own business. She embodies what it means to embrace change and rise above the past, and we are so honored to be a part of her story
